Delete your account and data

In Buksi only watchers have an e-mail account. The check-in person does not register: their phone gets an anonymous identifier and connects to a watcher with a code.

Watcher: delete your account in the app

Open Buksi and tap the settings button at the top right.
Choose Account.
Tap Delete account and confirm.

If you have a subscription, cancel it first in Google Play (Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions); deleting the account does not cancel it automatically.

Delete by e-mail

If you no longer have the app, write to hello@buksiapp.com from the e-mail address linked to your account, with the subject “Delete account”. We delete the account within 30 days and confirm.

Check-in person: remove connections and data

In settings, under Privacy and my consents, the check-in person can remove their watchers and withdraw consents (e.g. location sharing).
If a check-in person has no watchers left, their data (check-ins, messages, settings) is deleted within 30 days.
They can also request deletion by e-mail; we will let their watchers know that alerts stop.

What is deleted?

The account, name, e-mail, profile photo and settings.
The watcher's connections, messages, and photos and notes sent to the family.
If the watcher was a check-in person's only watcher, all of that person's data too (check-ins, messages, location, photos, voice messages).

What is kept, and for how long?

Deleted data disappears from backups within 30 days.
The consent log is kept for 5 years for legal reasons (only when consent was given and withdrawn).
Purchase records are handled by Google Play under its own rules; we have no access to them.
